The Aural Mode

Communication often occurs through the aural mode. We use aural modality when speaking to our co-workers, friends, and even strangers. Many people now seek out entertainment in the aural modality. Specifically, many listeners choose to engage with one particular form of aural modality–the podcast.

Podcasts are accessible on-the-go and are great for those with busy lifestyles. We chose to use podcasts as the medium for our practice of aural composition. Below you will find podcasts containing conversations and narratives surrounding ethics in the world in which we live.

A collection of podcasts on various perspectives of AI in academia. One group of students addresses concerns about the decline of critical thinking, how AI is trained & how biases influence consumers, and the deterioration of technical and professional skills and knowledge. Another group interviews residents of Bessemer, AL about the incoming AI data center. The remaining group of students, who also occupy a faculty role, gather opinions from students and staff in academia to identify extremes in support or opposition of AI.
